P2P Download

Just about every file sharing network on the internet is a P2P file sharing network. P2P stands for peer to peer, and the name gives an accurate indication of how P2P file sharing networks work. When using P2P networks for file trading, networks users actually transfer files from user to user – or from peer to peer. P2P downloads do not come from a centralized database of file options. When you hear people talking about P2P networks, they are referring to a sort of software membership program that lets registered users reach out an upload and download files between their respective computers. P2P downloads are hugely popular online, and a number of networks exist to facilitate these P2P downloads.

The Upside Of P2P Downloads
Peer to peer downloads system have tons of benefits. The most people like about these networks is the price – most P2P downloads are free. P2P downloads are also fast – because users trade files amongst themselves and not from a central library, demand for popular files is spread out across the network system. If a particular file is in demand, everyone who is logged on and has that file already is a potential source for everyone else looking for that file. In more traditional downloading networks, a huge demand for any file almost always causes a system wide break down. At the very least, you may find you have to wait a very long to get a popular file from a traditional downloading site. With P2P downloads, however, if you want a popular file, you simply search the network; you will probably find several different options for downloading the file. That means you can get the file when you want it, without worrying about the crowds.

The Downside To P2P Downloads
Free file trading may be fun, but P2P downloads do have a few drawbacks. The most common concern is the security risk involved in P2P downloading. You are opening up your computer to other users – always a risky thing to do, especially since you are opening it up to strangers. You may also download a P2P file that you think is your favorite song, but turns out to be a virus instead. You must use caution when using P2P downloads. Always make sure you virus protection system is up to date and functioning when using a P2P network.
